Build list to creating work results that spark gratitude

A process recipe is a one page list for what is essential to accomplish to produce the process result.  The list for what is essential to accomplish is grouped by their similar purpose into 3 to 5 list results. Each list result when completed is the start for the next list result in the process recipe sequence. 

The five list results for making a meal are

• Clarify what you will do next time with this meal recipe.

To figure out your essential list for what to accomplish, imagine you have produced the process result. Work backwards from there to create in as few words as possible a simple, elegant list for what is essential to accomplish to produce the process result. Study your essential list to identify which ones are similar in purpose to each other and group them into 3 to 5 list results. Each list result is given a name that describes the result that is accomplished when you have completed the work on that list. Each completed list result is the starting point for the next list result in the build sequence. 

Why a process recipe matters

The reason for a single page process recipe is to make it simple to understand the process and identify something on your list sequence flow that is not essential to accomplish the process result. 

You can refine your process recipe by imagining yourself following your process to understand if there are any precise points in your process where you might spending more than 2 percent of your time on disconnection, confusion, frustration or redoing work to figure out what to refine to remove it.

When you follow your process make note for each precise point in your process where you feel you are spending more than 2 percent of your time on disconnection, confusion, frustration or redoing work. Study what is happening with curiosity for understanding if the reason is due to the process itself or something outside of the process. This helps you clarify whether to focus your creative energy on refining your process, or figuring out what to do about something outside of your process.

Setup a simple one page monthly customer and sales interaction list to help you track the types of customers, work or product sales you do each month for the year.

The list shows your capacity for work to work actually billed, or your ideal product sales volume to your actual product sales volume. Income by your customer groups and cost by your cost groups, savings for the future investment. Income by customer types, new, referral, return or promotion and income by your service groups or product groups 

Reviewing the list helps you see trends in what your customers turn towards you for in context of the work or products you offer, compared to the work you billed for or products you sold. This helps you see your actual monthly results relevant to what you desire being excellent at with what, you hoped for, planned for, or not planned for. 

This helps you better understand the way the work or products you desire being excellent at delivering meshes with the customer results your actual customers turn turn towards you for. Understanding this helps you identify anything to stop or start doing to maintain your ideal balance between the customer result you desire being excellent at and the work or products sale you do. 

Essential to every relationship is feeling joy in looking for new ways to be loving and caring towards what matters most to you. By looking forward to advancing your standard for what you are excellent at you energizes your passion for excellence. By advancing your standard for excellence you spark connection and belonging from the work you do. 

When your customers experience you advancing your standards for excellence you create a reason for you and your business to remain relevant to them. Your customers get new reasons to appreciate what you are excellent at. 

To advancing your standard for excellence start by review your single sentence standard for customer and work experiences. Is it still relevant, feels inspiring, describes the essence of what you work to be excellent at, or is it time to change it. 

As you follow your process recipes for doing your work, identify the precise moments in time were you feel more than 2 percent to your time is spent on disconnection, confusion, frustration or redoing work. Be curious about why it happened, what to stop or start doing to remove it from your process. 
You may feel you are at the quality limit for that part of your process, and it it is time to design a new or updated process recipe that meet your standard for spending 2 percent or less of your time on feeling disconnection, confusion, frustration or redoing work.   

Once a month do a walk through of your space, go through your sales process, as if you are a customer, be curious about one thing to refine that relates to

• What creates a desire to return, and recommend you to people in their network
  
• What inspires your customer to believe you will provide excellent service 
  
• What inspires your customer to feel they are grateful to be in your space
  
• What helps your customer feel grounded so they can transition from the stresses of their day to be present with you
  
• What do you focus on listening to when clarifying your customer's intention for the visit that makes they feel you care about them as person, to fully understand what they need
  
• What helps them re-enter their day with gratitude
